How about a non-motorized rec trail on the old rail trail?

The purpose of this site is to help promote the creation of a non-motorized recreation trail for Lanark County, on a portion of the old CP Rail bed (OVR). A non-motorized portion of the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (the newly re-named rail trail) is of particular interest to the communities of Mississippi Mills and Carleton Place - as a link between the municipalities as well as a link to nearby Ottawa, Ontario.

A non-motorized trail:

- is for pedestrian, cycling, skiing uses

- promotes health and wellness for all ages: children to seniors

- gives a dedicated and safe trail to non-motorized users

- promotes local economic development, tourism

This site furthers a community conversation that is also on Facebook, where people post and gather information with regards to the reuse of the former Ottawa Valley Rail Line.
